A high school sweetheart success story
Poor Kelly, she is often torn between the girlfriends who want to hang out with her and the boyfriend she feels so connected to. I must admit, I have often scoffed at their decision to weather the high school years jointly at such a young age. But when I see them together at the mall or watching a movie at our house or simply hanging out with a group of kids, I can feel their connection. They finish each other’s sentences, they laugh at the other’s jokes and they genuinely seem to care for one another. And through high school drama, difficulties and homework stresses, they turn to each other for comfort and strength.
Kelly’s parents were also high school sweethearts who stuck together through thick and thin from 10th grade on. And she beams when she tells how her parents to this day are best friends who spend all their free time together, clearly serving as great role models for Kelly as she mirrors her mother’s life 30 years ago. With college looming on the horizon, Kelly and her boyfriend have decided to go to separate schools to test their relationship (like her mother and father did) and make sure that, in the end, they’re ready for the commitment of marriage.
He wants to be a teacher and she wants to be a nurse. They want two children, two dogs and a house with a big yard. And there is no a doubt in the graduating class of 2010 that this young couple will have all their dreams come true – together!
