As I prepare for my annual self-indulgent getaway to Canyon Ranch Spa for four days, (which is fabulous on so many levels but especially fabulous because the bill is taken care of by my Mother-in-law! Can you say lucky?) I always use this opportunity to reflect on how I want to use this time to feed and nourish my soul. It is time where I can sit and reflect, read, work out ’til my heart’s content and figure out what changes I need to make to ensure that I am living my best life. I know that I will come back with more healthy recipes, workout tips, etc. but most of all I will return to my crazy hectic life feeling renewed and ready to tackle life’s challenges more calmly. It is my annual reminder to slow down and try not to sweat the small stuff.
I am aware that few are lucky enough to share the same experiences, but I challenge you to use this time of the year when your kids are now all squared away with their new schedules and routines, to think about what you need in your life to slow it down and take it all in. What can you do to create a more calm and nourished you? Whether it’s finding time for that exercise class you have been putting off, or finally getting around to that book you have been dying to read, think about the ways you can simplify the mundane commitments in your life to allow more time for you. I know for me, when I order my groceries online and eliminate the need to go to the grocery store, it allows me to be a little more balanced. I encourage you to find your own “Canyon Ranch”.
