“Without ice cream, the world would be filled with darkness and chaos.”
- Don Kardong, world-class marathoner
This is perhaps my favorite quote of all time. For as long as I can remember, when someone asks me what my favorite food is, my answer is “ice cream.”
“No, no,” they reply, “I mean real food.”
And again, my answer is “ice cream.” I know it’s not a diet recommended by most physicians, but for years (most of high school) breakfast, sometimes lunch, after school snack and of course – dessert – was ice cream. (I’m not kidding about this. You can ask my friends and family.)
I’ve eased up on my ice cream intake over the years, but it’s still my all-time favorite food so you can imagine my excitement about the fact that the month of July celebrates my favorite frozen confection. That’s right…July is National Ice Cream Month. I’m pretty sure this means that by law we’re required to eat ice cream at least once a day throughout the entire month. (OK, I’m not entirely certain that it’s arequirement and I may be a little fuzzy on the legal ramifications, but c’mon…do you need an excuse?)
If you need more prodding (again, why would you…it’s ice cream after all,) CobornsDelivers.com has ice cream on sale all month. I’m using this national declaration of deliciousness as an excuse to try new brands and flavors and would love to hear your recommendations or any favorite ice cream recipes.
